The film “The Witch” will be shown on the last day of the Literature Cinema Meeting

Organized between May 26-30, 2025 with the cooperation of Karşıyaka Municipality and Intercultural Art Association, the 3rd İzmir Literature and Cinema Meeting will conclude with a talk and film screening at Bostanlı Çatı on Friday, May 30.
In the talk that will start at 20:00, researcher and writer Efdal Sevinçli will provide information about the life and art of Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar; then director Erman Bostan, who adapted Gürpınar's novel "The Witch" to the cinema, will talk about the production process of the film. Following the talk titled "From Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar to Horror Cinema", the 2024 film "The Witch" will be watched.
On the first day of the 'Meeting', which was held with the intense participation of İzmir cinema lovers, the film "Yalnızlar Rıhtımı", written by Attila İlhan and directed by Lütfi Akad, was screened. Before the film, in the panel moderated by Vecdi Sayar, writer-critic Rıza Kıraç talked about the relations between the two branches of art, and director Biket İlhan talked about the relationship of Attila İlhan, whose 100th birth anniversary we commemorate this year, with cinema.
On the second day, in the panel held before the screening of the movie "Kurşun Ata Ata Biter", directed by Ümit Elçi and adapted from the novel of the same name by Tarık Dursun K., academic Özlem Fedai, writer Salim Çetin and writer-photographer Lütfü Dağtaş told the life story of Tarık Dursun K. and his cinema adventure.
On the third day of the meeting, master writer Selim İleri, who we lost in the early days of this year, was commemorated. Critic-academic Zeki Coşkun's talk on "Selim İleri's Passion for Cinema" was followed by the screening of "Kırık Bir Aşk Hikayesi" (A Broken Love Story), written by Selim İleri and directed by Ömer Kavur. The program of the fourth day included the screening of "Eylül Fırtınası" (September Storm), adapted from Habib Bektaş's novel "Gölge Korkusu" by master director Atıf Yılmaz. Before the film, the writer Habib Bektaş shared his criticisms of the adaptation of his novel and answered the audience's questions.
